The Relocation of the Phoenix Project

The Phoenix Project of the Maryland State Department of Education is located at 901 North Milton Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21205.

Computer reuse remains the focus of The Phoenix Project. Phoenix will accept computers with a minimum standard of Pentium 4 and will donate computers to school systems, individual schools, and other education related organizations. Because of rising costs in accruing and fixing equipment, Phoenix will require a small surcharge for each computer that is donated.

MISSION:

The mission of The Phoenix Project is to provide working computers to public schools and community organizations that are educating Maryland's children, youth, and adults. One of Maryland's educational technology goals is to equip every student with a computer. The minimum standard is five students to one computer. This project is assisting in this goal, particularly in less advantaged areas of the State.

Give your used computers and computer equipment to Phoenix Project- an MSDE project that returns refurbished computer equipment to schools, the community and individuals with needs.

WHAT WE DO:

Accept computers of Pentium 4 or higher from individuals, corporations and government;

Provide tax incentives through the National Cristina Foundation, the Maryland national partner;

Refurbish computers and guarantee that they are in proper working order;

Provide operating systems and software on each machine;

Donate computers to public schools and community organizations with education programs. (a small cost-recovery fee per computer is required)
