Advanced Placement
Advanced Placement (AP) Environmental Science gives students an opportunity to take college-level courses and exams while still in high school. Students enjoy the challenge of taking AP courses with enthusiastic classmates and teachers; high school faculty find that AP courses enhance their students' confidence and academic interest as well as their school's reputation; and college faculty report that AP students are far better prepared for serious academic work.
AP Environmental Science was first offered in 1998. Since that first year, the number of LEAs offering the course grew from 9 to 22. Recent data from the College Board indicates that the number of test takers (assumed to be lower than actual enrollment figures) grew from 224 students to 2629 students. Actual yearly figures are shown below.
